    In this training, Dr. Aaron E. Wicks,  PhD, NCRT, CCAP of Action for a Better Community, Rochester, NY, walks through the challenges and that Community Action has encountered in its history.

    This course is broken into 6 sections, and lasts approximately 45 minutes. You do not need to complete this course in one sitting - Your progress will be saved between sessions.

    We are very excited to welcome you to NYSCAA and all of our resources that we have to offer you.  The purpose of this course is to show you those resources, to help you in your job as a Community Action Agency staff person. Enroll in the course to get started!

    You will be able to access and print your certificate once you have completed viewing the course.

    In This Training

    You will increase your knowledge and confidence in the roles and responsibilities of a Community Action Agency (CAA) Board Member. This training is designed for new CAA board members to build a common knowledge base. The primary focus of this course is compliance. Once you establish this common knowledge base, you are encouraged to complete additional training on topics such as theory of change, fundraising, succession planning, and further board assessment and development. We will cover key CAA board concepts including Community Service Block Grant (CSBG)  board structure, financial considerations, conflicts of interest, relevant legal standards, and organizational standards.
